They not only draw energy from our body, but also create toxins that are harmful to health in the long run. There are multiple types of parasites that can live in the human body, including protozoa, worms, tapeworms, flukes, and other helminths.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Due to deteriorating diet, polluted water, declining immunity and global travel \u2013 parasitic infections are no longer a problem only in poor countries. Today, they are increasingly common in Europe as well. <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\n          <strong>How does parasite infestation occur?<\/strong>\n        <\/h2>\n\n<p>Infection can occur almost imperceptibly \u2013 without pain and without immediately recognizable symptoms. The most common routes of infection are: <\/p>\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 <strong>Food and water<\/strong>: Undercooked meat, raw fish (sushi), unwashed fruits and vegetables, contaminated water, unpasteurized milk.<br\/>\ud83d\udd39 <strong>Contact with animals<\/strong>: Especially with pets (dogs, cats) that can transmit toxoplasmosis, tapeworm and other parasites.<br\/>\ud83d\udd39 <strong>Travel<\/strong>: Exotic destinations with lower hygiene standards \u2013 water, food, insect bites.<br\/>\ud83d\udd39 <strong>Infected faeces and surfaces<\/strong>: Not washing hands, public toilets, swimming pools.<br\/>\ud83d\udd39 <strong>Blood transmission and sexual contact<\/strong>: Some parasites are transmitted directly through blood, mucous membranes, and sexual contact.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\n          <strong>What parasites most often attack humans?<\/strong>\n        <\/h2>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Giardia lamblia<\/strong> \u2013 the most common cause of diarrhea in the world<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm)<\/strong> \u2013 white worms, often in children<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Toxoplasma gondii<\/strong> \u2013 transmitted through cats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ascaris lumbricoides<\/strong> \u2013 an intestinal worm that can grow up to 30 cm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Taenia solium (tapeworm)<\/strong> \u2013 transmitted by eating infected meat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Trichinella spiralis<\/strong> \u2013 transmitted through raw pork<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Entamoeba histolytica<\/strong> \u2013 the causative agent of amebiasis, a dangerous intestinal infection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strongyloides stercoralis<\/strong> \u2013 penetrates the skin (e.g. barefoot walking on the ground)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\n          <strong>Symptoms caused by parasites \u2013 what you need to know<\/strong>\n        <\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd38 1.  <strong>Chronic fatigue<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Feeling exhausted and powerless, even after a long sleep, is a common symptom.
