Chronic fatigue syndrome (adrenal fatigue): causes, symptoms, natural treatment

ADRENAL GLAND SYNDROME ( ADRENAL FATIGUE)

Did you know that chronic stress can affect your body’s ability to recover from physical, mental, or emotional stress? This is probably why most people have faced adrenal fatigue at some point in their lives. Many proponents of this condition estimate that almost any person can experience adrenal fatigue, also known as hypoadrenia, to some extent during a particularly stressful period of their life. Since the adrenal glands affect many parts of the body, the symptoms of adrenal fatigue can mimic a number of disorders and are not always easy What is adrenal fatigue? A relatively new term, “adrenal fatigue” was proposed in 1998 by Dr. James L. Wilson, a naturopath and chiropractor, as a new condition. His hypothesis was that overstimulation of the adrenal glands (or “adrenal glands”) by prolonged stress can lead to inconsistent levels of cortisol (stress hormone) in the bloodstream.

WHAT ARE ADRENAL GLANDS?

Your adrenal glands (adrenal glands) are two thumb-sized organs that are located above your kidneys and are part of the endocrine system. Also known as suprarenal glands, they are involved in the production of more than 50 hormones that trigger almost all bodily functions, many of which are essential for life. The adrenal glands work closely with the hypothalamus and pituitary gland in a system known as the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA axis). The adrenal glands play a big role in the stress response. Here’s how it works: Your brain registers a threat, whether emotional, mental, or physical. The adrenal medulla releases the hormones cortisol and adrenaline to help you respond to a threat (fight or flight response), rushing blood to your brain, heart, and muscles. The adrenal cortex then releases corticosteroids to dampen processes such as digestion, immune system responses, and other functions that are not necessary for immediate survival. The adrenal glands are also responsible for balancing hormones.

CAUSES OF CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

Adrenal fatigue is a condition in which the body and adrenal glands cannot keep up with the enormous amount of daily stress that many people experience. Sometimes misunderstood as an autoimmune disorder, adrenal fatigue can mimic some precursors of other common diseases and diseases. It can be caused by: stressful experiences such as the death of a loved one, divorce or surgery, exposure to environmental toxins and pollution, long-term stress due to financial difficulties, bad relationships or work environment, and other conditions that include feelings of helplessness, negative thinking and emotional trauma, lack of sleep, poor diet (including fast diets and inconsistent diets) and lack of exercise, pain, food sensitivities, surgery, addiction to stimulants such as caffeine or energy drinks, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes/decreased glucose levels…

SYMPTOMS OF CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

These primarily include general weakness of the body, lethargy, fatigue, recurrent infections, dizziness, low blood pressure, headaches, memory problems, excessive cravings for bad food, diarrhea, depression, frequent mood swings, allergies and blood and sugar problems.

NATURAL TREATMENT FOR CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

My first recommendation is to start taking B vitamins along with high-quality supplements. The recommended daily dose is 100 mg per day of all B vitamins plus vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) an additional 100 mg per day. B vitamins are crucial for the functioning of the adrenal gland. Be sure to take vitamin C every day… And these are the vitamins you need… As for minerals, be sure to consume 1500 mg of calcium per day and 750 mg of magnesium per day. You can find all these vitamins in my health food store called “optimal set”. If you want pure organic minerals and vitamins, an optimal set will be of great help… My next recommendation is that you start taking chlorophyll. Take according to the instructions on the package. This is a powerful cleanser of toxins of the body and helps the work of the adrenal glands. My next recommendation is coenzyme q10. It is a key nutrient for the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the adrenal gland.

Of the plants, I will recommend astragalus… which is a wonderful natural remedy for the adrenal gland. Adaptogenic plants ashwagandha, rhodiola rosea, schisandra, and holy basil: Research shows that adaptogenic herbs can help lower cortisol levels and mediate stress responses within the body. By using these herbs in food preparation, you can somewhat alleviate the load on the adrenal glands. Licorice root: This spice is available in extract form and has been shown to help increase DHEA in your body. Licorice root has been linked to some side effects and can sometimes be avoided by taking DGL licorice. Research suggests that pregnant women and those with heart, liver, or kidney problems should avoid licorice root. Do not take it for more than four weeks at a time. Be sure to control your blood pressure, as levels may increase in some patients.

Follow a diet against adrenal fatigue…. In any case of recovery of the adrenal gland, nutrition is a big factor. Here are a few foods that offer adrenal support, helping to replenish the energy of the adrenal gland so that your system can return to full health. First, you need to start by removing any hard-to-digest foods and any toxins or chemicals in your environment. The idea behind the adrenal fatigue diet is to remove everything that puts a strain on your adrenal glands. Foods to avoid include:

Caffeine: Caffeine can interfere with your sleep cycle and make it difficult for your adrenal glands to recover. If you must drink coffee or a caffeinated beverage, take a limited amount in the morning before noon.

Sugar and sweeteners: try to avoid as much extra sugar as possible. This includes avoiding high-fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners. Avoid sugary foods, cereals, sweets and sweets. Be aware that sugar is an additive to many breads, condiments, and toppings. Look for raw honey or stevia as an alternative, and always use sweeteners of any kind in moderation.
Carbs: While carbs aren’t all bad for you, the inflammation they can cause is especially problematic when you experience adrenal fatigue. Many people when stressed crave carbohydrate-rich foods, which offer immediate gratification but end up putting more strain on the adrenal glands. If you’re overworked and stressed, try cutting out gluten and starchy carbs for a while to see if that can regulate your fatigue and energy levels.

Processed and microwaved foods: First of all, the microwave has its dangers, but other than that, most ultra-processed foods that can be baked in the microwave have many preservatives and fillers that are difficult to digest and consume your body’s energy and digestive cycle. Try to buy food on the outside walls of your store and prepare your own food whenever possible.
Processed meats: Protein overload can put more strain on your hormones than you think, and the extra hormones and nutrient deficiencies in conventional, processed meats (especially red meats like beef and steak) can quickly throw your system out of the loop. When buying meat to support the adrenal gland, stick to grass-fed beef and free-range chicken or turkey and eat this protein-rich meat only in moderation.

Hydrogenated oils: vegetable oils such as soybean, canola and corn oil are highly inflammatory and can lead to inflammation of the adrenal glands. Try to use only good fats such as coconut oil, olive oil, organic butter or ghee.

Next, you want to add nutrient-dense foods that are easy to digest and have healing properties. Foods you can add to your diet include: coconut, olives, avocados and other healthy fats, cruciferous vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, etc.), fatty fish (e.g. wild salmon), free-range chicken and turkey, bone broth, nuts, such as walnuts and almonds, seeds, such as pumpkin, chia and flax, kelp and seaweed, Celtic or Himalayan sea salt, Fermented foods rich in probiotics…
