What is herpes and why does it appear?
Herpes is a very common viral infection that can affect the oral cavity, skin, genitals, and even the nervous system. There are several types of herpes viruses, and the most well-known are:
- Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) – causes fever on the lips
- Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) – the most common cause of genital herpes
- Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) – causes chickenpox and can later lead to shingles
Herpes zoster, also known as shingles, appears when the chickenpox virus is reactivated in adulthood, most often due to weakening of immunity. The virus can “sleep” for years in the body, and when activated, it causes painful blisters and chronic neuralgia.
Symptoms of herpes (HSV-1, HSV-2 and herpes zoster)
Symptoms depend on the type of virus, but most often include:
- Red, painful blisters on the skin or mucous membranes
- Burning, itching, tingling, or pain before the bladder bursts
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- Fever and a general feeling of fatigue
- With herpes zoster: pronounced pain along the nerve and rash on one side of the body
In some people, the infection may pass without visible symptoms, while in others there are frequent relapses.
Causes and Risk Factors for Herpes Activation
The herpes virus is transmitted:
- Oral, genital, or anal contact
- Kisses and sharing accessories
- Through weakened immunity, stress, hormonal changes
The risk is increased in:
- Persons over 50 years of age
- A person with chronic diseases (HIV, autoimmune diseases)
- In people on chemotherapy or immunosuppressants
- For emotional or physical stress
Can herpes be cured forever?
Although medicine does not yet offer a permanent cure for herpes, the good news is that the virus can be put into remission – that is, prevent the outbreak of symptoms and reduce the frequency of recurrence.
This is achieved by strengthening the immune system, natural therapies, and changes in diet and lifestyle.
Natural Remedies for Herpes Shingles and HSV

- Viral infections in general
👉 Dosage: according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 250–500 mg per day)
