Intermittent fasting and weight loss

THE PERFECT TOOL FOR WEIGHT LOSS

How does intermittent fasting promote healthy weight loss?

This question has become indispensable in today’s world of obesity and weight problems. While many fad diets have proven to be short-lived and unsuccessful, intermittent fasting offers a permanent solution to maintaining a healthy weight. We are all aware of the harm of being overweight to our health, as well as the fact that there is a major obesity epidemic underway. Victims of obesity are often middle-aged and elderly people. Let’s face it, our body changes with age. After forty, it is much easier to gain weight, while the accumulated kilograms are increasingly difficult to lose. Again, being overweight significantly increases the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke, arthritis and many other diseases.

It often happens that we try to be physically active, watch what and how much we eat, and the accumulated kilograms are still there. One of the main reasons why we can’t lose weight is an imbalance in the work of hormones. Hormonal imbalances affect muscle loss and easy weight gain. However, not everything is so black, there is also good news. In this case, intermittent fasting also helps significantly. It is known that the two main hormones of hunger and satiety, ghrelin and leptin, work much better when we fast. I say this based on my own experience.

Before I started using daily fasting, I was regularly hungry several times a day, like most of us. One of the first benefits of fasting that I noticed was a reduction in hunger. Once you start fasting regularly, you will feel much less hungry. Why is this so? If we think about it, we actually fast during sleep. Leptin, the satiety hormone, increases while we sleep. In these moments, the brain signals the body to use less energy. When we wake up, leptin decreases and ghrelin, the hormone that causes hunger, increases. We get up and want to have breakfast, don’t we? amiss! When you fast, the exact opposite process occurs. When you wake up, leptin is still in high concentration and you don’t feel hungry. What we think is hunger is actually just an ingrained habit. We are used to a minimum of three meals a day, of which breakfast is the first.

I personally never eat breakfast. Most of the week I eat one to two meals a day and in this way my body functions perfectly. In reality, breakfast is the easiest to skip, precisely because during fasting in the early morning we feel much less hungry than, say, at noon or in the evening. It is very important to understand that an imbalance in the function of ghrelin and leptin leads to increased appetite, hunger, slow metabolism and emotional overeating.

Why is intermittent fasting effective for healthy weight loss?

Here are some reasons why intermittent fasting is effective for healthy weight loss: Intermittent fasting changes the way the body uses energy. During fasting, insulin levels in the body drop, prompting the body to use stored fat as an energy source. When it does not have access to calories from food, the body turns to fat as a source of energy, resulting in weight loss. Speeds up metabolism. Intermittent fasting promotes a better metabolism as the body becomes more sensitive to insulin, which helps to make better use of energy. If we eat less often, the body uses less energy to digest food, leaving more energy for other processes in the body.

Reduces calorie intake

Intermittent fasting reduces the total calorie intake because it shortens the time during which we eat. This can help create the calorie deficit needed for weight loss.

Increases sensitivity to hormones that regulate appetite

Intermittent fasting can help increase sensitivity to hormones such as leptin and ghrelin, which play a key role in regulating appetite. When we are more sensitive to these hormones, we more easily recognize feelings of fullness and reduce overeating. Promotes the burning of adipose tissue. The body starts burning fat during intermittent fasting because the glycogen stores in the liver are depleted. When fat is used as an energy source, body fat is lost. While it may seem like fasting will make you tired and moody, people who practice intermittent fasting report increased energy and a better mood during fasting.

Reduces inflammation in the body

Intermittent fasting reduces inflammatory processes that can contribute to obesity and other health problems. It also helps regulate appetite and control eating habits. It’s very simple! Intermittent fasting is easy to maintain long-term, making it sustainable, unlike many other diets that require strict restrictions.

Intermittent fasting is not just another fad diet that promises quick results, but it is a healthy and sustainable approach to nutrition that promotes weight loss and improves overall health. Through changes in energy expenditure, improving metabolism, reducing calorie intake, and promoting fat burning, intermittent fasting is an effective way to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. In addition to all of the above benefits, intermittent fasting can improve your overall well-being, contributing to better health and long-term success in achieving your weight loss goals. Remember, a healthy lifestyle is the path to sustainable change, and intermittent fasting can be the key to achieving the desired weight and well-being you’ve always dreamed of.
